Affiliate Marketing - The Transition

I am often asked how did I make the transition from being a network marketer to becoming an affiliate marketer. Well actually I am still a network marketer. I have it in my blood and have always enjoyed network marketing immensely. It is really hard to find a business that provides such amazing relationship with so many people and that is the greatest reward of building a business like that. Plus I just love the residual income available in network marketing. Once you get to a point where network marketing provides a good residual income it is pretty hard to walk away from that.

However what happened with me is that ten years ago when I decided to start building my network marketing business online I realized that the internet was the future of network marketing and after having great success building that business online I was hooked.

The internet changes rapidly and the methods of marketing a multilevel marketing business online changed right with it. So when I began trying to build a new organization online with a new company I realized that the methods of promoting online that I had used so successfully years before did not work near as well as they had. So I went back to school so to speak. That is where my experience with affiliate marketing started.

What I learned was that there was a big world out there when it comes to affiliate marketing and since I was so spoiled building my business online it seemed a perfect addition to my arsenal of work from home businesses. There is just no end to the products and programs that you can market online with affiliate marketing and once you get the systems in place to do so it is a very easy business to run online and part time.

I believe also that most of us enjoy learning new things and it is certainly so with me. Just the process of learning new methods and techniques of online marketing kept opening up new opportunities for me and it really seemed to feed my desire to constantly learn and grow.

Learning to do affiliate marketing actually improved my understanding of how to promote and build a network marketing business online. It led me to the understanding of why so many network marketers were having such a hard time building their business online. Without getting into too much detail with a short article like this the main challenge I saw people having was this. They were leading with their company or their product.

It is quite difficult to build a network marketing business online by leading with your company or how great the compensation plan is or how great the product or service is. I mean in all reality people do not really care about that. Network marketing is still a relationship business even when you build it online. If you can not build relationships with people you are going to have a hard time building a network marketing business. End of story.

By shifting my focus to affiliate marketing and learning to do things like build blogs, learning SEO techniques, learning social media marketing and understanding how to generate traffic. The missing pieces of the puzzle were starting to become quite clear.

So actually I still am a network marketer I just have diversified my business to include affiliate marketing and it has been a blessing to my overall business strategy. There are a lot of good products and programs that are easy to market online and although I love network marketing the basic formula for success in marketing is provide the marketplace what it wants. That is why it is hard to find swimming suits in the department stores in the dead of winter the same as it is hard to find umbrellas in the middle of the summer. Marketers understand this basic concept. Once I began to understand about providing the marketplace with what is wants I found that my business once again was able to thrive. So there you have it. No transition really just diversification.
