According to Wikipedia, "A domain name is an identification label that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control in the Internet, based on the Domain Name System (DNS)."
Are you planning to start your website? Are you are trying to choose a domain name? Wait. Consider the below points while choosing your domain name.
1. Too Long Domains: Do not choose long word domains. For example, thisisyourdomainname.com
It makes it difficult for your customers to remember your domain. Choose a simple domain name.
2. Using successful brand names: Do not choose the name of a popular brand and modify it with extensions like. net,.info etc. (eg: amazon.net ). This is not only a risky method of being litigated but also a cheap way to attract buyers.
3. Do not choose a domain name with a combination of 2 words that are ending and starting with same letters. For example, gmattime.com. In the most of the time, you observe that the traffic will go to gmatime.com and not your site.
4. Do not use abbreviations: Do not use short cuts or abbreviations of your company name of niche name as domain names. For example, ABCL.com. This kind of domain names neither say anything about you nor make sense to use.
5. Do not use capital letters in between the words: Do not use capital letters in between the words. For example, MyDomain.com. A better version of it is mydomain.com
TIP: If you are trying to purchase an expired domain name, be sure to verify the history of the domain. Google might have banned this site as a spam site, which is permanent. It is possible to appeal the ban, but that takes time and effort.
